The Journey Is Long (and the End Isn't Near) [feat. Colin Jeffress]
LINER NOTES:
This piece has long lived in my mind as the basis for some lyrical song, but nothing ever quite fit. It tried several times to be a love song of sorts, bearing strong themes of reconciliation; a few other times it bore words of peace, the feeling that one is being gently rocked to sleep by ocean waves; but always, the thematic undercurrent of this piece has been the idea of a journey. Sandwiched here between two songs about death this song speaks of the journey not of a single soul toward a heavenly destination, but of the singular journey of the universe--that great flowing river into which we all are swept--toward its ultimate ocean telos of love and peace and justice. |
