Sometimes (feat. Nathaniel Couper)

LYRICS:
Sometimes, I wish that I were famous;
Sometimes, I wish none knew my name.
Sometimes, I wish that I were innocent;
Sometimes, I just wish I were to blame.

Sometimes, I long to be a hero;
Sometimes, I wish the world would burn.
Sometimes, I think that I'm just ignorant;
Sometimes, I think that I can learn.

Sometimes, I never know what to do or where to go;
Sometimes, I always see who I need to be.

Sometimes, my selfish prayers get answered;
Sometimes, I humbly plead in vain.
Sometimes, I wish that I could just go numb;
Sometimes, I want to drown beneath the pain.

Sometimes, I never know what to do or where to go;
Sometimes, I always see who I need to be.

My heart's as fickle as the wind,
Wanting what it wants and knowing not why.
Perhaps up here I'll finally find the answer to my soul;
Perhaps up here I'll finally free my mind.

Sometimes, I never know what to do or where to go;
Sometimes, I always see who I need to be.

LINER NOTES:
These lyrics were originally written by my brother for an assignment in an English class. Rising from these humble origins, these dichotomous couplets have become some of my favourite lines of verse in existence, expressing a deep mistrust and frustration toward the constructed self bound up inextricably with an implicit longing for wholeness and peace.
